UC DAVIS - CHILE

Center of Excellence

The University of California, Davis – Chile Center of Excellenceis a research center established through the joint efforts of UC Davis, PIPRA, and the governmental Economic Development Agency (CORFO) of Chile. UC Davis – Chile was launched in April, 2015 in Santiago, Chile, and is one of CORFO’s Centers of Excellence – a network of twelve R&D centers operating in Chile, whose collective purpose is to establish the country as a research and development hub.

UC Davis – Chile will endeavor to connect the educational and capacity-building programs at UC Davis with those in Chile to accelerate the transfer of pooled academic research into commercial products in various sectors in which the life sciences are implicated, but with a focus in agriculture. The Center is supported financially by CORFO, but seeks to establish a self-sustaining funding model over the long term through the development of partnerships with actors in the public and private sectors in Chile.

UC DAVIS – CHILE REPRESENTS A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO:

Develop new discoveries/technologies through collaborative research between UC Davis and Chilean investigators.

Accelerate research translation into products and services, primarily in agriculture.

Serve as an international hub for UC Davis and PIPRA in Latin America.

Build capacity for education, research, and technology transfer in Chile.

Strengthen the historical bilateral relationship between Chile and California.
